Blake Hummel, CFP®, EA

Financial Planner

Blake is a Financial Planner at Defining Wealth Partners and is passionate about simplifying people’s finances so they can focus on what truly matters in their lives. He loves building meaningful relationships that give clients the space to explore the “why” behind their financial decisions. He believes money is best used as a tool for building freedom, purpose, and impact.

Professionally

Blake began his career as a professional lighting designer and production manager for multiple touring artists, bands, and speakers. After stepping away from life on the road, he joined Dave Ramsey’s live events team as a production manager. During this time, Blake discovered his passion for personal finance and decided to pursue a career in financial planning.

Since then, Blake has worked for two large independent advisory firms in the Nashville area, where he has been able to put his love for financial planning (and especially tax planning) to use in serving business owners, independent contractors, and other professionals. He has also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and obtained his Enrolled Agent license through the IRS.

Personally

Blake is originally from Michigan but now calls the Nashville area home with his wife Helen, their daughter Amelia, and their cat Winston. He and Helen are active members of Fellowship Bible Church, where they serve in student ministry and welcome new families on Sunday mornings.

Outside of work, Blake enjoys traveling, catching live concerts, and hiking the trails around Nashville. Most of all, he loves spending time with family and friends—whether that’s exploring new restaurants or enjoying a quiet evening at home playing board games.

Fun Fact

Once you get to know Blake, you’ll quickly learn he has a few “hot takes” and isn’t afraid to share them. For example, he firmly believes McDonald’s makes the best chicken nuggets—despite what the Chick-fil-A fan boys might want you to believe. If you ever want an honest opinion, just ask Blake!
